Every Drop Counts
Keep Fish Wet mobilizes the angling community through education and outreach initiatives that are fueled by passion and backed by science. We work to help every recreational angler realize that using science-based best practices allows them to put conservation into action with each fish they release.
To deliver our programs we’re asking for your help. Please consider supporting us through this fundraiser.
Thank you!
At Keep Fish Wet we believe that, as anglers, we have a responsibility to build community around the use of science-based best practices for catch-and-release and angling in the face of climate change.
Wild salmon, steelhead, tarpon, striped bass, and more face increasing anthropogenic pressures, with many populations threatened or in pronounced decline. These pressures come in many forms and operate at many geographic scales, including habitat degradation in local streams, overfishing and bycatch of regional stocks, and the global stresses of climate change.
Over the past 30 years, there has also been an awakening by fisheries scientists and anglers to the impacts that recreational angling can impose on fish survival and population health – even when fish are caught and released. Science has also demonstrated, however, that many of these impacts are in an angler’s control and can be greatly reduced by changes in angler behavior. This becomes even more important when you consider that many of our most treasured species are caught multiple times over their lifetime or even within a single season, and that many more fish are caughtand released than kept in North America.
Our mission is to help anglers improve the outcome for each fish they release.
Keep Fish Wet makes the science about catch-and-release and related best practices accessible and understandable. We firmly believe that access to this type of information should be barrier-free, thus we made the decision to not be membership-based or charge for any of our information.
