RA Gateway Annual Giving Campaign 2020-21

Rocklin Academy is a publicly funded school of choice. Enrichment to our children’s education outside of paying for teachers, facilities, and day-to-day expenses, requires replenishment from sources like the Gateway Parent School Partnership (PSP).

The PSP, run entirely by parent volunteers, organize events throughout the year that engage and bring the parent community together, creating a vibrant school culture. This school culture and parent involvement is what differentiates the Gateway experience. Please review the information below to see a typical budget for the PSP.

Due to the Covid Pandemic, the PSP will redirect a percentage of funding to the classrooms via new technologies and classroom virtual learning tools. These changes will be determined by parents at the September PSP General Meeting.

How much are you suggesting parents contribute ?

We are suggesting $125 per child.

How did you come up with the $125 per child?

The total estimated expenses for the year ($150,000) divided by the number of students at Gateway (1,300). Please see the 2020-2021 Budget Goal for details.

Am I expected to contribute $125 for each child attending Gateway?

The vast majority of the funds are targeted at the classroom and for each student. As a result, the determination was made to break down the goal by student versus by family. Each Rocklin Academy school has a different amount per student. Our ultimate goal is 100% participation, but we recognize this could be a burden for some of our Gateway families. The suggested amount per student is just that...a suggestion. We ask that you make your donation comfortable, meaningful to you, and one that makes you proud. It is anticipated that some families will give more (or get a match from their employer) and others will give less.

What if I do not contribute, will my child be excluded from participation in any activities?

The activities the PSP supports are for every child at Gateway. Regardless of the amount of your pledge your child will ALWAYS be included.

During the COVID pandemic, PSP will not be hosting events, why should I contribute to the AGC?

The pandemic has created a different set of challenges for our teachers and students. Our teachers are setting up classrooms in new learning spaces. The PSP plans to redirect an increased percentage of the budget back to the classroom to fund learning tools and technologies that are especially conducive to virtual learning environments. These funds will be especially useful during this pandemic, and will benefit the entire school community.

What happens if we don’t make our goal?

While $150,000 is a reasonable and attainable goal for a school our size, the budget has flexibility built in. We’ve included a contingency line item in order to maintain our program priorities and not run deficit. Should the goal not be met, reducing expenses and additional fundraising will take place.
