AQUAMANIA! Swim for Sepsis Awareness
Between Sunday, September 24 and Saturday, September 30, 2017, participating swimmers will swim laps* to raise funds for Sepsis Alliance.

Aquamania! Swim for Sepsis Awareness

AQUAMANIA! Swim for Sepsis Awareness will raise vital funds to benefit Sepsis Alliance.

Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming and life-threatening response to infection. As the third leading cause of death in the United States, sepsis can lead to tissue damage and organ failure, and takes more lives than breast cancer, prostate cancer, and AIDS, combined. Sepsis takes the lives of the well and the young, but the very young, seniors, and those with compromised immune systems are most at risk.

We have an opportunity to save lives.

Sepsis Alliance is the only national organization working to raise sepsis awareness. This event will help fund a program to educate Emergency Medical Services personnel and First Responders to identify and treat sepsis before arriving at the hospital.

Sepsis is largely preventable and can be successfully treated with early identification and medical intervention. The challenge, and thus the opportunity, is in making people aware of the issue. Just 55% of the general population knows the word sepsis and only 28% can identify the symptoms, according to the 2016 Sepsis Alliance Awareness Survey. And many health providers are not adequately trained in sepsis identification or treatment. This is where our work begins.

Between Sunday, September 24 and Saturday, September 30, 2017, participating swimmers will swim laps* to raise funds. It’s easy and fun! Swimmers pay a small entrance fee and fill out a Swim for Sepsis Awareness Swim Entry and Sponsor Form to participate, and encourage their friends, family, co-workers and others to sponsor each lap they swim.

Swimmers win prizes for:

• Most Laps swum - Men

• Most Laps swum - Women

• Most Laps walked
• Most Lap Sponsors signed at $1 or more per lap

• Most money raised from lap sponsors

We will celebrate our participants and their sponsors at the AQUAMANIA! Barbeque and Awards Ceremony, September 30th at 12:30pm-2:30pm at the Club at Harbor Point.

Please join us for this fun and worthwhile event!
